SHALFORD, GUILDFORD

Mill House Cottage
Home Extension

We are excited to share these photographs of our completed project in Shalford, Guildford.  This project helped our client extend their modest cottage into a family home for them and their three children. Working within the constraints of a conservation area and within the curtilage of a listed building, we managed to gain planning approval for this contemporary addition, which is connected to the original cottage via a full height glazed link.  The extension contrasts with the brick cottage by using black cladding but is sympathetic in its pitched roof forms, which tie-in with the adjacent original building.

The upstairs bedrooms were constrained by the pitched roof forms but have been carved out to create a new master suite and kids rooms, with the addition of a new family bathroom too.  At ground floor a new lounge and study are provided, with a generous internal stair connecting the old and the new and allowing the existing kitchen dining area to flow through the house.
