Renovation and Refurbishment
The existing property had been left empty for over
three years and was in urgent need of renovation and
refurbishment. Our Client was looking to transform it into a new family
home for them and their two young daughters.
As part of the renovation they were seeking to extend
the property in order to provide additional living space,
a more generous master bedroom and a study to work
from.
Sensitive Use of Materials
The proposed elevations respond sensitively to the
existing and consented house, with a strong brick base
expressed and a lighter rendered top-storey. The new
roof will be clay tiles to match the existing roof. This is
illustrated on the right and can be seen in the photograph
below.
Light Filled Internal Spaces
The internal space to the new extension is filled with
natural light from both the Crittal glazing and the rooflight
above the dining area. The raw natural materials are expressed
internally, giving warmth and interest to the space.
