Willow House

Home Extensions for ‘Willow House’ at Totteridge Common

We have gained planning approval and listed building consent to reconfigure and restore an existing grade II listed house in Totteridge.  The property falls within an archaeologically sensitive area, is within the metropolitan green belt and a conservation area. Our designs had to sensitively balance these planning constraints, whilst providing a modern extension that would give the desired improved accommodation our client required.

The proposals cleared away a confused jumble of previous modern extensions at the rear and replaced them with a new rational two storey extension.  This also helped reveal the valuable historical elements hidden behind and gave a greater and clearer appreciation of the original house.

The main historic building is to be restored and refurbished, with poor modern construction methods replaced with more sensitive interventions and infills that will help the building survive.
